Accessibility
Last updated October 2, 2026 · Version 2026.10
Everyone should be able to learn about the Foundation and offer help. This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA, tested on every change, and comes with settings you can tune for yourself.
Conformance status
We aim to conform fully with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, levels A and AA — the standard named by the US Department of Justice’s 2024 rule under Title II of the ADA, Section 508 and the European standard EN 301 549. Where we know of a gap, it is listed below with what we’re doing about it.
Settings you can change
The round button in the corner of every page opens accessibility settings. They are an extra on top of a site that already works with your own assistive technology — never a substitute for it:
- Read aloud the page, or any text you select, in your device’s own voice, at three speeds.
- Text size up to 175%.
- High contrast — black on white with a single bright accent.
- Readable font — Atkinson Hyperlegible, designed by the Braille Institute for low-vision readers.
- Wider text spacing for dyslexia, using the WCAG 1.4.12 values.
- Stop motion — pauses the film and switches off animation and smooth scrolling.
- Underline every link, bold focus outline, large cursor and a reading guide.
Settings are remembered only in your browser and are never sent to us.
For blind and low-vision visitors
- Pages use real headings, landmarks and lists, and a “Skip to content” link is the first thing on every page.
- Every meaningful image has a text alternative; decorative images and effects are hidden from screen readers.
- The home-page film has no sound and carries no information that isn’t also in text; a written description of it is available to screen readers.
- Text meets WCAG AA contrast (body text exceeds 12:1), reflows at 320 pixels wide and stays usable at 400% zoom.
- The site works with screen readers such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA, JAWS and Narrator, and honours Windows High Contrast / forced colours.
For Deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors
- No content on this site depends on sound. The only video is silent and decorative, so nothing needs captions; if we publish video with speech, it will carry accurate captions and a transcript.
- You can reach us entirely in writing — by email or the forms on this site — and we never require a phone call.
- We welcome calls through any relay service, including 711, and if you need an interpreter or other communication support for a meeting with the Foundation, tell us and we will arrange it.
For keyboard, switch and voice-control users
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a clearly visible focus indicator that is never hidden behind the cookie banner.
- Menus and dialogs trap focus correctly, close with Escape and return you where you were.
- Buttons and links are at least 24 by 24 pixels, and their visible labels match their spoken names.
For people with cognitive, learning or seizure-related needs
- Plain language, consistent navigation and help in the same place on every page.
- Nothing flashes more than three times a second. Movement stops when your device asks for reduced motion, and can always be paused.
- Forms have visible labels, explain mistakes in words, keep what you typed, and never time out.
- No CAPTCHA or puzzle stands between you and a form.
Known limitations
- The drawing showing how the Academy and the Foundation relate is an image; its meaning is written out in text for screen readers.
- Read aloud depends on your browser’s built-in voices, so the voice and quality vary by device.
- Very large text settings can make the oversized headline words on the home page wrap more than designed.
How we test
Every change runs automated WCAG checks (axe-core) on every page at desktop and phone sizes, plus scripted checks of keyboard use, dialogs, the cookie banner and forms. Keyboard-only and screen-reader review is part of every release, and we re-check the whole site against WCAG whenever the guidelines are updated.
Report a barrier or ask for another format
If something is hard to use, or you’d like any content in another format (large print, plain text, read to you, or explained by a person), email info@isiacademy.info. Tell us the page and what happened if you can — but you don’t have to. We reply within 5 working days and fix confirmed barriers as a priority.
If you’re not satisfied with our response, you may contact the US Department of Justice (ADA.gov) or, in California, the Civil Rights Department. See also our Non-discrimination Statement.
